The Village of Providence follows historical design guidelines created to ensure the timeless southern charm of a walkable community. The Architectural Review Board is a board of design and building professionals established by the developer to review all homes to be constructed in Village of Providence with respect to the community covenants and restrictions. This review is also based on architectural style, materials and colors, exterior detailing and site and landscape criteria. The activities of the ARB have been established to protect the integrity of the community streetscape.

Reviews are conducted on a monthly basis and timing varies based on the complexity of the home. The builder and/or buyer will submit completed forms with the required details. If there are changes necessary, the submitter will make updates as needed.

Homes are patterned after Pre-World War Historic southern architecture, such as homes found in Downtown Huntsville & Twickenham. Design styles such as Federal, Greek Revival, Classical, Craftsman, Bungalow, Victorian, & Italianate. Spice styles could also be considered for approval. An example could be a Dutch Colonial.

Since inception, the Village of Providence Neighborhood Association has engaged with some of the south’s premier architects and engineers that review all aspects of new construction, including single family as well as the Town Center.

Homeowners can expect ARB approved materials such as double hung windows, cement siding, and modular brick reminiscent of historical southern architecture. All exterior selections are subject to ARB approval.

In special situations, a private swimming pool or sport court may be allowed. This is dependent upon location and ability to screen. Any additions are subject to ARB approval and may require additional screening.

Fencing depends on the architectural style of the home and the regulating plan. Any additions are subject to ARB approval.

All landscaping requires submittal and approval by the ARB.
